Was a significant collection of Indian Peace Medals and Betts Medals auctioned in the March 2001 B&a

I was taking a look at some documentation, and I saw a reference to a significant collection of Peace Medals and Betts Medals that were auctioned in the March, 2001 and May, 2001 B&M auctions. I do not have these catalogs. Does anyone know how significant a collection this was? How does it compare to the medals that were recently auctioned by ANR? Also, I believe that there have been recent Stack's auctions of the JJF collection that had these medals. Does anyone know how the JJF collection compares? Which catalog is the definitive reference for these medals?

These were the Lucien LaRiviere catalogs (parts 2 & 3). And yes, they are very significant for Betts medals, much more so than anything ANR has had recently. I would even say as important as the Ford sales (January 2006 and May 2006). So, if you want to read up on Betts medals, get all four. Oh, and the B&M May 2001 sale also contains QDB's collection of Ike dollar errors.

All I know is that the cataloguer of that collection (and the separate collection of IPM in May 2001, descended from an Indian Chief) is one handsome devil!

And, were it not for the chance to throw himself into a world-class collection during his first winter in Wolfeboro, may have been found wandering around in the snow looking for something to do.

    Longacre-

You really must get a full set of B&M catalogs. Mine's not for sale though image

I believe the indian peace medals were considered the definitive collection and contained several unique pieces.
