Looks BU from the sellers pics. $61.00 delivered . image

The writing on one side of the medal says, "Robert Fulton 1765-1815," "First use of steam navigation on the Hudson River 1807," and the signature of the designer "E. Fuchs". On the other side of the medal, the writing says, "Discovery of Hudson River by Henry Hudson A.D.MDCIX," "Hudson-Fulton Celebration Comm.," The American Numismatic Society," and "Halve Maene". The edge is marked "Whitehead-Hoag". The medal measures 2 1/2" in diameter. It is in excellent condition.

Wow, that's a really nice design! Great history. And, though I know nothing about medals, sounds like a great price. image What do the words on the back say, if you know? They are a little hard to read in the pic.

Talked to an experienced collector ; He said this case is what the Sterling silver medal originally came in. Would be a rip if the medal turns out to be silver !

more than likely the silver medal was just replaced with this bronze. these are really rather common and can be found often on eBay in both bronze and silver, so "rip" is a bit of a stretch.

It is not the medal . These are smaller in dia and looped for suspension .
