Which eBay Seller Has YOUR Vote For The One With The LEAST "Confidence In Their Wares"? i.

As defined by the least % of auctions no reserve starting at 1 cent?
I vote for sce43 (Steve/Stateline Coin Exchange - of cousre the term "exchange" is used VERY loosely).
Best I can tell: They NEVER run no reserve auctions starting at 1 cent on anything, never have anything with a resonable starting price, & never even use the accept offers option. What jokers!

Wasn't sure if it was "monitor friendly"
"I have met Steve and he is a very nice dealer. Yes, his prices are a bit high, but if you pay for a coin then when you sell it you don't want to lose money... Right?"
I've met him too at coin shows & he is a personable enough guy, even in e-mails, and if what he paid were the explanation, I'd have nothing to say. Unfortunately, he lowballs you on what you wanna sell & highballs on what you wanna buy. Guess his greed (I mean margins) is/are bigger than the average dealer.
<< <i>Anaconda, I cannot see why they do not let these auctions go with a 0.99 start and no reserve. >>

I seem to recall seeing a few of your fleabay auctions with overpricing going on, and some of your bidders- must love what you have- they seem to keep coming back and back- and damn! they never win!!???
I've seen the SCE auctions- nothing different than a few other dealers that have fleabay auctions.
Except Laura- but she has been 86'd.

99% of MY auctions start at 1c and 100% are NO RESERVE - EVER! Don't like it, don't bid.
Recently ripped me off. I'm pondering a negative, though a retaliatory negative would be sure to follow.
Cheap shot. Steve operates more as a virtual store – often with a nice selection -- than as an auctioneer. Pass or play. You might as well call every person who sells other than by auction a “joker.” The confidence in his coins is reflected in the generous no-questions return policy.

I was being facetious. Ebay is a good outlet for some material and not others. A PCGS/NGC MS-63 Saint will always sell for its market value and can be comfortably listed for 0.01 and no reserve. If you try that with rare, expensive, and esoteric material, like a $20,000 pattern, you will get your head handed to you. I think that this idea that the seller has no cajones or confidence in the coins because he/she will not list them at 0.01 and no reserve is ludicrous.
What the hell difference does it make whether a seller starts at .01 for a 100.00 coin or at 80.00 with a BIN of 100.00 or uses a reserve of of 100.00? On average, that 100.00 coin will sell for around 100.00. Amazing how that works, isn't it?
What about sellers that list $100 coins with a starting auction price of $150 or a reserve of $150?

Yep, priced just out of your budget range I hope.
BTW, we rarely use eBay as an "auction" tool simply because it's better used as an online storefront with fixed prices (and ability to send us offers) on coins that we stock. Too much traffic on eBay to completely ignore it's influence.
<< <i>Very true OK except that I think all else equal, the no reserve starting at 1 cent gets the most bids, hits, & finishes the highest.

It isn't (most of the time) going to sell so who cares? Ebay gets their listing fee...the seller gets his advertising...the prospective buyer goes on about his business...Everyone comes out ahead.
Makes sense to me. Actually, the OP does the same. I am not sure why he is making an issue over this.
<< <i>I find it really annoying when sellers waste my time by setting a reserve way above reasonable market price, then put in the listing that the coin has a "low reserve." So I watch the coin, come back a couple of times to see how it's doing, maybe place a bid, all for nought because the reserve's too high and it winds up unsold. A high percentage of the time I think it's sellers being greedy and hoping to pull in a sucker. >>
Actually, I find it even more annoying when sellers start their auction for a 500 or 1000 dollar coin at 1 cent with no reserve. Talk about wasting everyone's time! It is NOT going to sell at half its market value--and even if it did hammer at that price it will conveniently get "lost in the mail" or "sold to a prior buyer". Why not start it at a reasonable amount in the first place?

rella- you come this board flaming just about anyone who sells on ebay that is not like YOU- you started that crazy bullcrap awhile ago that the unattributed VAM is on its way to PCGS and when it gets back you will get the coin- pay me now or you will forever miss the deal of a lifetime.
Get your head out of your as$- it is competitoin that you have a hard time with- deal with it.
If I ever decided to buy what you sell- you will know it- and I would then EXPECT good service from YOU. If for any reason I do look at what you sell and I see WHO bids on your items- do you have shill bidders? I would venture a guess that you do- but I'm not accusing you of stupidity.
I personally get tired of your bad mouthing a dealer who is doing the same damn thing you are- trying to make a buck. If you see crap going on in his auctions - REPORT THAT PERSON TO EBAY- QUIT WITH YOUR SNIVILNG WAYS.
<< <i>Morganhunter2, what are you babbling about? I know you would NEVER bid on MY auctions but why don't you give me your eBay ID so I can block you in case you forget what a "fleabay" operation I run? >>
Lol ... if this board stays online much longer, everyone here will be on everyone else's blocked bidders list
