1977 Topps Dave Kingman

I got this Dave Kingman card on ebay a month or so ago. It has some sort of a racing/automotive card back from 1976. The interesting thing is that the card stock is different from the 1977 line. It is definately a higher quality. The card is almost like a glossy/tiffany.

Any ideas about this card? Is it PSA gradeable?

    That's an odd card!

The back is probably - 1976 topps autos of 1977 back - how it got there? I give up?

At the printer - perhaps the guy changed the plate - then realized it was the wrong one?

I didn't know that Topps made a "tiffany-like" card back then.

This may be a "back-door" card or fished out of the garbage?

  • Cool card!
  • I wonder if that is a '77 proof card. I've seen some of the '77 proofs and the ones I've seen have a glossy feel to them. The backs I've seen look like the bottom half of that card back.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
