Fairtraderz ..... EDITED:

On ebay, # 320002300092. Fairtraderz has a set of PCGS Walker Half Dollars 1941 - 47 PCGS for $5,100. Please read the fine print before buying, S/H/I is $1,850.00. Maybe just a way to beat eBay out of some fees.image

Heard back from seller, S/H/I is $18.50, they forgot about the decimal.

    Linky

Certainly is well hidden. I do not know the value of the set. Is it worth $6950 or even $5100??. Maybe he made a mistake and it should be $18.50 ??image

Don't be so sure with these guys. Actual cost for Registered Mail is around $25 for $5k in coins, and I doubt if they have ever subsidized postage costs.

If you added up the PCGS price guide for MS65, it would be $ 5,705.00. Guess the $1245.00 is for overhead.

I agree Connecticoin, I would not trust Fairtraderz (personal experience).

Of course he may be top notch with Laura, are you gonna tick off a big dealer or screw the little guy? In their case, the latter is a real possibility.

Has to be a mistake. Hopefully one of you fine board members has informed them of their ways. They will fix it!

I've gotten a few really nice Franklins from John both at shows and on Ebay. Never a problem. Obvious typo on the auction in question.

Edited to add: The title of this thread sucks.

John is a good guy. I've known him for years. Sat with him at many shows and looked through his boxes of franklins. Always fair prices at the shows, and slways friendly and conversational.

It was pretty obvious from the outset that this was going to be the case, but the current title grabs more readers and encourages more rancor.

    The title should be edited:

Obvious typo in listing by Fairtraderz, nothing to see here, my bad

Thanks RYK.... It is nice that we have such vigilance over our brethren. I sure wish we could all be that way on the block we live on.

Now I have a legitimate question. Once a thread like this is resolved .... why doesn't PCGS or CU send a janitor in and clean out all the junk ? I mean, if it is determined that the post essentially holds no useful information and it was my house, I'd trash the whole thread. Does this place just let the millions of unwarranted postings sit there forever ?

The real problem with a thread like this is that they come and go. A year from now, I might not remember what the problem was or how it was resolved, only that the dealer lynched here is a "bad dealer". Of course, in this case, there was another issue that involved this dealer that is still fairly fresh in the minds of most of us.

I would like a show of hands of all CU forum members (collector, dealer, hybrid, whatever) who have never made an error at work.

No, what you will probably remember are the threads about this seller when A) got NARU'd for shill bidding, B) tried to extort and additional $50 from someone after a sale was completed, and C) that this seller routinely asks other dealers to bid on his Ebay auctions for him.

I see them at shows and their prices can be good but they are wholesalers so the quality just doesnt seem to be there. They have always be nice and courteous.

I dont see him as a rip-off if you buy off ebay he will let you pick up locally, no problem.

I've bought several PCGS slabbed Wheaties from Fairtraderz and S/H/I was $8.50/each.

The coins were shipped quickly and well packaged.

The prices were a little high but I'm happy with what I received and would recommend Fairtraderz.

So have I, seems to many people have too much time on their hands. As I always do if I see something that isn't right I will email the seller, if there was a mistake that kind of thing happens. Ebay cops who needs them.image
