You would not believe the condition of some of the Kennedy's that I have picked up at my bank.

In the last few weeks I've been lucky and picked up 13 Kennedy half dollars, all dating from the late 60's and early 70's and most if not all in mint state condition. But explain this, in that same time frame I've also picked up 37 Kennedy halfs dating from 1980 and up. Every single one of the newer coins are just destroyed, I mean they all look like they've been in a rock tumbler.
Doesnt that seem kind of strange?

The bulk of the later date coins went straight to the casinos where they were used
in the machines. This makes them look like they've been in a tumbler. It's a little un-
usual to find the older clad halfs in unc. AU is easy enough but Uncs are not. Many
of the higher grade older halfs are probably from mint sets.

It's possible to find later date coins in unc but they might not be in your fed district.
