Pop 1, 1983-P quarter and probably the only one in the entire clad series!!!

1983-P PCGS PO01.......pop 1 for date and probably pop 1 for the entire 1965-date series in PO01. Imagine how much handling this coin had to get to this level in just 23 years (ok, don't imagine, jst look at it). Thanks to Jeremy (airplanenut) for discovering this "beauty".

Somebody lost a pocket piece. image

That's way too far afield to be mere chance.

Pocket pieces are like AT--artificial wear.

You got hammered. That coin is a solid FR-2, and PQ at that.

Edited to say "with all due respect to PCGS, of course".

Helps to answer a question I've always had: How much wear can a clad coin take before showing copper?

    Apparently, quite a bit! image

I must admit that is VERY cool looking. It has a very similar appearance to that of an old Bust quarter!!!

Looks like a 2 to me, but what do I know.

Then again, maybe they net graded it for some problem we can't see in the image.

It should be easy to tell in hand so I assumed they got this right. I'm beginning to suspect you're right though.

edited to add that the middle of the "3" in '83 does not extend so far to the left as this one appears to.
