I could use some help and opinions with imaging my Morgans... (warning, large images)

Hi all! Happy New Year!

I need some advice with imaging.

I used 3 reveal bulbs, diffused the light with white paper and am using a Canon A95 camera on auto setting.

Some images look okay like the 2 below

1899 ANA/ANACS MS63 (should be higher)




But then I get images like these:
1900 ANACS MS64 with light diffused:


Same coin without diffused light:



Help me please?

Try two lights and DO NOT use diffused lighting......

How far should my camera be from the coin?

I'm about 1 foot away right now.

check your white balance also. You may try three bulbs without diffusion (space them evenly across 120 degree). diffusion is washing out a lot of your contrast

If you can shoot from a foot, great. Snuggle the lights right up against the lens (not so close as to cause undue glare), be careful about melting things.
