"Doping controversy overshadows American sports" - - HUH????????????????

Doping controversy overshadows American sports

this article TRIES to make the case that steriods are hurting the image and promotion of sports............. even making the insinuation that somehow the drug accusations are somehow related to Lance Armstrong's retirement.

I say that this is much noise about nothing, but come next season, the seats will still sell out and people will still watch on tv. period.

No it doesn't. The headline and lead are a tad overwrought, but this is just a typical late December year-in-review article. For better or worse, steroids were a major story of 2005. Heck, Raffy's suspension and virtual exile from the game might be second only to the ChiSox ending their World Series futility as the biggest story in baseball this year.

Steroids were a HUGE story this year...as was mentioned, Raffy getting busted (the biggest name in baseball thus far to be found guilty), to congress getting involved, steroids and HGH were a huge story that transcended baseball.
