I expected slightly more but they did not get the word out on it enough.

I agree on the marketing aspect. There were some high dollar slabs in that one that didn't sell. I didn't see them in person, so I was wondering if the quality was or was not there.

Not sure what you mean by "less than stellar". I'm suprised that the coins sold. I'm sure that you know that most of the low pop coins in that sale were from a single consignor. The way I look at it is that these coins were "retailed by auction". I have a hunch on who the buyer was as well.

Jack, I guess you are right. It seemed to me that it was almost a private sale agreed to be held with B&M as the mediator between these two parties. I expected more spirited bidding and competition over more coins by more collector involvement. It just wasn't the case.

It may have been held to close to the coming FUN show with some very nice coins coming up.

I didn't view the coins, so it is hard for me to know if the quality was there (not saying it wasn't).

Were the reserves just way too high? There were some very collectible mid range coins in the group that didn't sell.

My end question probably is the same one we have all had for the past five years -- is there a crack in the wall of strong Lincoln players at the top? Where is the Lincoln market heading? I guess I'll see what happens at FUN before I consider any conclusions.

I does make me think of dpoole's theory about where the registry is ultimately heading -- with coins migrating into top sets and those sets just sitting there basically off the market.
