How often do you have do to "picture interpretation" for a dealer that you normally buy fr

I think that some dealer's pictures are a lot better than others. If you normally buy from a dealer whose pictures are wanting in quality, after a while do you gain experience in how to "interpret" the dealer's picture so that you have a better idea of how the coin will look when you actually see it in person?

I have learned to interpret pics from various dealers. Some are shot with a pretty good angle which I don't tend to trust the pics, can hide a lot with an angled picture.

Many times it is a case by case basis for variety attributions. Some dealers feature incredibly good quality photographs (Whitlow, Pinnacle and ANR for example). I typically know the outcome of a purchase from these folks and I'm rarely disappointed. Heritage can be a hit or miss until recently, where image quality appears to have improved. JJ Teaparty has smaller, but fairly realistic images for raw and slabbed coins.

    Ebay is a crap shoot.

if i would be buying coins it would be 100% of the time

and i needs half an hour of talk time and then more quality photos and specialized closeups and different angles i am anal like that

so this is why i do not actively solicit coins from coin sellers anymore

What he said plus Stack's images--when they have pictures at all-- are usually less than fair to the coin.
