Feedback

I have read many, many posts about when to leave feedback, who should leave it first etc etc........

I feel compelled to offer an opinion from someone who has bout in excess of 150 items from e-bay and elsewhere and I have NEVER had a bad experience. When I purchase something from the Bay, I conclude that the seller is simply a hard working siff (like myself!!) who merely wants to be paid according to the rules as described in the auction. I, as the buyer, want only one thing and that is to receive a coin "close" (if noyt slabbed) to the one described in the auction. I should also add that I live in Canada and I know that many sellers will not ship here (I have never had a problem).

When I purchase a coin I make sure that I pay for auction in full, 99% of the time within 5 minutes of the end of auction. Sometimes I get feedback righ away and other times I can tell that I won't get feed-back until I leave it first. I will not leave it first but I also don't worry about it if I don't receive feedback either.

My intention is always buying a coin, not trying to change the color of the "star" next to my name.

  • Interesting question that I'm sure many ebay participants have often pondered. Personally, I leave positive feedback (as a buyer) when I am happy with 1) Accuracy of Description 2) Method and Quality of Shipment 3) Speed of Shipment. This is done regardless of whether or not a reciprical action was taken by the seller. In my opinion, the seller should leave positive feedback first because the buyer makes the first positive move, makes payment. However, if the seller forgot or ignored this courtesy, that shouldn't mean the buyer has the right to be "rude" as well.

As a buyer I leave feedback after the seller does, or when hell freezes over. Whichever comes first.

Here;s the way I do it.....

If I win, I purchase the coin via PayPal....and I leave a stipulation that "I will leave feedback when item is received".

That way the seller knows I am a little "smarter" than a novice.

When I receive the coin, I leave the feedback.........then I get my own from them.

So far so good...........gotta be careful.........I've had no problems yet.

    WHEW!

  • As far as I am concerned, I have only had one problem with the feedback thing. I had purchased some nice currency notes from a guy who had about 5000 feedback, it just so happened that he had a string of bad feedback due to a multiple purchase and would not give a break on the shipping. So, by the time I had received them, he had 9 neg's. So, I leave him a great feedback, hoping to get him back on track. Not only did he never leave feedback but he would not return any attempt to contact him (now that is back when I really cared about feedback). Well, I have not went back to him. If I do, I will not leave feedback first. Also, even if I have a bad experience I try to work it out. I have yet to leave a neg.

  • When selling I give feedback when paid, when buying give feedback after seller. When selling and after I have left feedback about 70% of the sellers return the favor. When buying around 30% of sellers leave feedback first. That works out to be about 50% feedback left from transactions.
