Any particular reason no Barber coins were coined in Carson City 1892 & 1893?

The last seated halves were made at Carson City in 1878, yet the Morgan dollars, $5,$10 & $20 Gold coins were minted up until 1893. Was the CC mint not capable of minting all denominations? Just curious.

To the best of my knowledge there was a financial pinch those years with a dropping price of silver. My guess is that it wasn't worth it to the miners to coin the bullion and the mines were petering out as it was.

Perhaps the San Francisco Mint was able to cover the demand for the smaller denomination silver coins to serve the Western US, and maybe there was little demand for smaller silver in the area around Carson City.

Interesting question, but it applies to all of the 1880's too.

All the silver coins that went into hidding during the Civil War started flowing back into the channels of commerce in the 1870's so there was a coin surplus that lasted for several years.
