How Many Cards Do You Own?

A great corrollary to the stacks on the desk is - do you know how many cards you own?

For us modern guys, that's going to be interesting!

How many graded?

I don't own a lot of graded - not even on the vintage side - mostly raw in boxes or binders.

Yikes, no kidding. "13,406,577. Wait, I just won a 2004 Heritage common. Make that 13,406,578."

I can't wait for the "How many dupes do you own?" thread. I'm jumping into that with both feet. In fact, I think I'll start it.

Somewhere between 90-100,000 cards. And all baseball. There might be 200-300 football and basketball scattered thru there.
As graded goes, less then 10.
  • I am constantly distilling... I can't bring myself to own more than a thousand or so...
When I was a kid, I got up to approx. 65,000~
But now... I just keep reshaping, upgrading etc...
I used to own a couple hundred graded... but now, I am down to a measly 20 or so... adding a few more each week...
But again... I am sure once I have 60-100 graded again, I'll sell 20 or so and sink all of the money into one really nice card.

I simply don't appreciate them when I have too many.

Haven't really counted them up in a while but it's close to 300,000 cards.

And I am the proud owner of TWO SGC graded cards.imageOnly have those because they were thrown into a lot that I bought of of eBay awhile back.

Wide range of years with lots of late 80's and 90's stuff that everbody loves so much. Sets, singles, unopened. In boxes and binders. Basically where ever I can find a place for them.

And for me it doesn't matter if they are a worthless common or high dollar card as I enjoy every last one of them.image

I am probably around 200,000+ cards. As for graded... I would guess I have 150 or so that are on one of my various registry sets. Then I probably have another 250 or so that are either not on any of my registries, have since been upgraded on my registry or were just graded because I had nothing better to do with my money.

I have 4 tupperware type containers in my basement, full of cards (set, singles, packs) of stuff from late 80s to early 90s, all junk. Each container is 2'x3' and 1.5' to 2' deep. I probably have 10,000 cards in these tubs. Worthless crap. Right now I have about 20 graded cards.

  • Up until about 3 years ago, I still had about 95% of all the cards I've ever bought in 35 years of collecting, including my brothers BB collection I bought from him about 5 years ago. It's too hard to even estimate since I have stacks of 5000ct boxes full, and dozens of 600 and 800ct boxes, in just about every closet in the house.

    An approximation would be:
10-12,000 singles (football, which I collect)
    28 graded
    50,000 FB dupes

    150,000 baseball (which I don't collect)

Comparatively few.....I would say about 5K. The large majority are raw early '70s HOCKEY. Strangely enough, however, all my graded cards (15-20) are vintage baseball.
