What is the best way to safely remove unsightly spots from ANY coin?

Without disturbing luster and or natural toning?

I absolutely detest unsightly spotting, even microscopic blackheads bug me.

Any suggestions as to YOUR tried and proven method that disturbs nothing else about the coin(s)?

Thank you.image

I suggest replacing the unsightly coin with a spot free example.

it depends on what the coin is and what has caused the spots or staining.
some stains or spots never come out without taking metal off the coin surface.
thats not good usually. start with acetone, then maybe goo-gone,or good ol
coin cleaners such as ms70 or eZest.
blue ribbon, if you can get it, is said to work great on copper coins.

I'm not positive as to what the cause is, but here are a couple examples:

    1) I have a few various coins sitting on a jewlers' tray, in a dark room that is climate controlled.
I have done absolutly NOTHING to any of these coins ranging from nice bright uncirculated copper
to Nickels and Silver, including Proofs, both clad and silver. I know there are coins fresh out of Mint sets and Proof sets
to OBW rolls. No one other than the Mint, has done anything to these coins. This "Cancer" seems to go after some worse than others. It's not hot and humid in here at all.

    2) Same circumstances but sitting in Saflips, never been dipped or in any other way "altered", by acceptable
means. There are some really nice coins here and I do not want to ruin them but something is going on and must
    be stopped.

    3) There are even nicely toned coins already in slabs. For lack of a better work I call them "blackheads".
I have read many threads about AT-NT...to dip or not to....to use alcohol (Isopropyl) and or Acetone etc, but I am
from the old school that taught NEVER CLEAN A COIN, but these "blackheads" HAVE to take away from a coin's grade,
    wouldn't you think?

    4) Today I am considering submitting a coin that has been in a slab (ANACS) that has very beautiful Pink Rose'/ Champagne
toning to it. It's Nickel...but there are thise little bitty pinpoint sized Blackheads on certain areas. I'd really like to get them off without otherwise disturbing anything else about the coin. The same thing has happened to NGC and PCGS coins too. Experts....people used to dealing with this, can you offer and share some advise, please?

    Thank you image
