Results from my first regrade attempt!! Was I right on or what? I'm happier than a...you know!!

Well, I went through a bunch of my slabs and picked out 8 coins that I'm sending in for a upgrade try. PCGS must have changed their holders quite a few times over the years.Of the 8 coins I'm sending in there are 5 different holder/label types.Keeping my fingers crossed on this bunch.Got a couple of real good coins that I think could possibly jump 2 grades.

Here is what I'm sending in:

1935 PDS Arkansas 50c. set Current grade= MS64, I think has a real good shot at 65

1927-S Peace dollar current grade= MS63, definite shot at 64, maybe 65( has a couple of spots I would like to get off first somehow though.Not sure if I should crack it out and try to clean or just send it in with the spots.)Does anybody know if PCGS will dip it for you if they crack it out for an upgrade?

1902 Morgan - current grade MS63 , to me a 65 all day long

1879-O Morgan - current grade MS63 , I would be happy with a 64, this one might be tough

1902-O Morgan - currently MS66, old holder,looks great what the heck,might as well try for a 67

and 1913-D Type 1 Buffalo shown below currently MS65, but flat out blows away another 65 I have in another PCGS holder.The current holder has a yellowish green label,not sure what year its from.
I would be thrilled with a upgrade to 66, but does it have a shot at 67?

Arkansas has a lot of chatter on the face and luster seems to be lacking on the Buffalo for a super grade but they look like nice coins and I help you do well. mike

NCS can "conserve" coins. I don't think PCGS offers this service.

The yellowish labels are really the old green labels that have faded. Some fade to light green but some fade all the way to light yellow.

It looks like you have some nice looking coins there. Good luck on your upgrade attempt. I usually expect the worst, that way I am pleasantly surprised if I do get any upgrades but am not disappointed if I get none.

Very nice. It demonstrates how one can upgrade by very carefuly selecting coins for regrade. Randomly selecting coins, even those grade in the "early" days would not yield such results.

Figured it up... After fees about a $1,200.00 FMV gain...

I had also sent in some regrades to NGC. They didn't budge, not even on one of the 9 coins I sent in. I felt the coins sent to NGC had the same chances as the ones sent to PCGS. They must be a little tight over there right now...

Yes, that's correct. I sent all the coins in slabbed to both PCGS and NGC. There were a couple of coins I would have preferred to crack out but I figured with it being my first attempt and not sure if my skills were up to par or not I'd better leave them holdered. I might try and crack a few out the next time.

I didn't know you could send PCGS slabbed coins back to PCGS for a re-grade while still in the slab. Do you follow the same procedures as a crossover...i.e. state minimum acceptable grade, etc ??

No way the 13-D Buffalo should have been a 65.
