Cosmic- re your setup

Don't worry too much about the learning. There's plenty of willing helpers around here.

That's what I wanted to hear!

setup Do you shoot straight down? If so, how does the camera avoid a shadow? Is the white construction paper there to reflect light? What bulbs are you currently using, the OTT? What is your optimum distance-9 to 12 inches?

OK, that's for starters... image

  • Do I shoot striaght down?

Most of the time yes and I just tilt the coin if I have to. You have to move the light arounds to get rid of the shadows.

The white paper is there to reflect light as well as a back ground for underneath the coin.

The lights you see are 2 reveal 40 watt bulbs the OTT LITE is not in the picture.

Optimum distance varies from coin to coin. With the C3000 in macro mode I think you can do 8 inches.

  • One note The hacked up tripod I used I made sure that I could still adjust the height after it was mounted.
