Not sure I understand your question.
    I collect Morgans...they're raw and a small collection...but, like I said, not sure what you're asking. ?

Let me rephrase. Where would I find out how many people collect Morgan Dollars? Is it written anywhere, like a census?

I don't think there is any way to know how many people collect Morgans (or collect anything, for that matter).

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I imagine the number is quite large. Morgans are a very popular series to collect.

One possible way to get an idea from a percentage wise would be to do a sampling estimate. Take a large group of collectors in general and find out how many of those actually collect or enjoy the morgan series. You could use the board as a good start. There is a wide variety of collectors here and in all parts of the country. If you could get each of the 10,000+ members to tell you whether or not they collect them and then figure out what percentage of them that do. Then take that percentage and apply it toward the number of collectors nationwide as indicated by the national publications. I think it would be fairly good estimate.

lot of work if you ask me though!

Does collecting mean having a few stashed away somewhere? If so then it's in the millions.

I'll guess that there are probably six or seven serious collectors, maybe even up to 10 or 11 if you count the casual ones!

I just located the info on the total number of Morgan dollar collectors,
this is just in the USA there is no data on collectors out of the U.S..

The count as of 11-28-03 10:50AM currently stands at more than 2,987,615 Morgan Dollar collectors. Yes thats correct almost Three Million.

So there are not enough 1893-s dollars to go around

How many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

There are ways to get a feel for the absolute number for questions like this if you can
define your terms. You need to have a definition for collector. Mintage numbers are ab-
solute and attrition rates can often be guessed pretty closely. By comparing prices of
coins with known populations you can get a feel for the number of peope who demand to
    own that coin.
