Its funny how Ebay builds cookies and search parameters in the "Items you may like" featur

I find these curious. Mine are all filled with Mercury dimes, but there is also some jewelery and a Morgan. I purchased a Cross pen a few months ago, that must be were the other cookie is from.
Does anyone really pay attention to these? I search Mercury dimes in PCGS/NGC /ANACS, but somehow the cookies are always raw junk.

Your thoughts?

    They're way off!

Just because I'm looking for a 1914 Canadian $10 gold piece doesn't mean I'm interested in a modern Canadian $10 bill, a top-ten gold record, or anything else that pulls key words from completely difference categories.

Ninety-nine percent of the time I search for U.S. coins on Ebay. What do I find in my "Items You May Like" section...all darkside stuff. image

Yeah, I know what you mean. I personally prefer coconut macadamia nut and peanut butter but they keep coming up with chocolate chip and oatmeal.image
  • Mine are all mercury dimes. I guess that is pretty accurate since I've bought them and searched thru quite a few of them. But I've but and searched a lot of other stuff tool. The thing is though that I hardly ever look at that. In fact, I forgot it even existed until seeing this thread.
  • The customizable search feature that e-mails you is a lot cooler & more accurate.

I never even noticed. I guess I've gotten into the habit of focusing on what I want to see online, and igoring the rest. Years of pop-ups (now blocked via software) and banner ads made me that way.
  • Here is mine:

    US Coin Sets @ 1982 PROOF SET @ 5 Coins Mint+ $11.45 2 39m
    US Coin Sets @ 1985 PROOF SET @ 5 Coins Mint+ $9.95 1 54m
    US Coin Sets @ 1987 PROOF SET @ 5 Coins Mint+ $9.95 -- 1h 09m
    AMERICAN SERIES BARBER US COINS $21.50 7 2h 39m
Giant Stash w/Silver! 350+ Old Rare US Coins!

I have never purchased or searched for a proof set, can't remember the last time I looked for Barber coins, and I would never purchase (or search) for any auction with the words "Giant Stash" in them.

Thanks for pointing this out - it will give me future laughs!
