A "Cute" Draped Bust Half, I feel very fortunate and Proud to Own...Post Yours As Well!!

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just acquired this 1806 Draped bust half dollar. It's the pointed 6 no stem, and I have attributed it as the O-109A.

Late die state. Die crack from star 12 to the neck, die crack under the date, stars and letters drawing to the edge. As far as rarity factor Overton has it as a R-4 "very scarce".... estimated 81-200 specimens, for whatever that's worth. I've actually heard it might not be as scarce as it says in the Overton book.

A truly unmolested piece imo and looks even better than the image.
Picked up this beautiful Early half dollar off of Mike DeFalko (coingame 2000) on the board. His wife pretty much nailed the image as to what it looks like in hand. The colors and luster of course are nicer in person. Hope you enjoy this piece and thanks for taking a look.

Please post one of yours as well!!!!

I am far from an expert on Bust coinage, but that is flat-out gorgeous on the eye-appeal meter. Nice pickup! image

Here's the same die marriage, earlier die state, minted before yours and stayed in circulation much much longer than your coin.

Damn if these coins could talk the stories they'd swap.

I bought this one over 30 years ago on one my first overnight trips to New York City when I moved to northern New Jersey. I overpaid for it then; it looks like a bargain now.
