I guess someone at the BEP got tired of the US Mint errors getting all the error press. image

Too expensive for me. Maybe if it was Chiquita.

$10.1 Gs, that's a lot of bananas for one bill.

I agree that this should of been in the currency forum. But this is one of those " Extremely Rare Exceptions " where what is shown is far too cool not to post. If I had Bill Gates` money I would of taken a hack at it. It`s just too funny.image

Is there any chance it could be a fake?
What things on the bill are printed first, second, and third? The signature and the denomination are under the sticker, probably the two hardest things to counterfeit. Just wondering. It if it real, it's pretty cool!

Wait until they find out it was smuggled out by a BEP employee!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Bank Note Reporter (May 2003) had a 2 dollar bill (series 1995) with a small fragment (0.5mm x 5mm) that obstructed the printing. Due to the small size of the obstruction Fred Bart stated the price would remain below 5,000. This note may be a bargin. It is a R9 error typically unique.

The back of the not is printed first, then the black front printing. The green serial numbers and Treasury seal are printed last. I do know exactly when the colorshifting denomination is printed but it looks like it is done between the face printing and the green overprinting. I'd say this thing is real. It isn't the most spectaular error I've seen but it is impressive.

We’ve been debating just that over on the Currency forum. My gut feel is that it is legit. It’s the “truth is stranger than fiction” factor – who would have thought of doing it? And if so, why there?

You're welcome, Adrian! It was great meeting you at long last too! I did drop by later on and saw your wife and kids, but you weren't around and I couldn't tarry. Looks like I'm going to have to take a Friday off next year to meet the whole clan. Unfortunately, this is one of my office's busiest times.

I'll tell you all, between Adrian and the Texas Bullion Gang, I sure got my eyes filled with superbly toned coins!! ... maybe I need to double my weekly "investment" in Lotto tickets. image
