It's a month old. But here they are.
    1955 B$137 A$150
    1956 B$120 A$135
    1957 B$190 A$210
    1958 B$130 A$145
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I have a dealer who wants 800 for all of them..... I may do it, the Frankies were very nicely toned and ms66's, but the Lincolns had some incredible rainbow toning in all the sets..... These ones are Texas Bullion Traders quality........

Sounds like price gouging to me!! Tell him to forget it.

Whisper that dealer's address to me and I'll go chastize him for his prices. image

Well Lucy, if you're going for it, then I want dibs on what's left of the '58 set

The 58 had some monster Lincolns and Roosies.... I noticed that the nickels really didn't tone in all of the sets.... Atleast not compared to the other coins..... Nickel must not react with sulphur as much......

Lucy-- in most all the sets I see the nickels are always the least impressive colorwise (if they have any at all).

Do these sets have all the original packaging with them? Inner and outer envelopes? The paper covering the cardboard cards that hold the coins? Just curious.

They have both envolopes and some kind of pinkish paper covering the coins.....

Lucy, deal sounds a little on the high side especially if you factor in slabbing costs, assuming that is what you are thinking. Most of the sets I have seen have TBT type lincolns in them, haven't seen toned lincolns selling for the same kind of premiums as silver.
  • LucyBopLucyBop Posts: 14,001 ✭✭✭
Not so sure I'll slab them..... The 55 would be ahuge temptation to slab as I need this coin in a ms66fbl......... but even then I may still wait and search for that elusive 55....... I was really thinking of leaving these sets as is........ But, I may slab em all... I'm all mixed up. image

Offer the dealer $750 and see if he'll sell at that.

image Grey sheet and retail price guides don't mean a thing! Inspect first hand and decide then. Most proof sets are overpriced now and all the quality ones are gone.
But then again, Lucy gets lucky again I think!image

  • In all the sets I've seen (about as many as I can count on one hand) the nickels also missed out on neat toning image

My Halfs are not FBL. My Lincolns might be near TBT acceptable image

seems like a Lincoln like that stunning beauty would demand a premium.... That Lincoln is alot like the ones in these sets....

Lucy, my 57 lincolns are all like that, they just don't seem to excite lincoln collectors much.

Who cares about "wholesale" prices?? If a coin has beautiful toning and awesome eye appeal, then you better get it before someone else does.
  • Cam40Cam40 Posts: 8,146
If $800 is his asking price then ask if he can work with you on the price alittle.
A good dealer would I think.
Or drink him under the table THEN take the money and run honey!!!!!!!

Lucy, 800.00 does seem a little steep, but if the color is truly mesmerizing, you might adopt a "no guts, no glory" Attitude.

I have always been willing to pay for eye appeal, and these GEMs have it.....

Lucy, I'm assuming that you have no doubts as to the originality of these mint sets?

no doubts what-so-ever, when it comes to Frankies, its very diffulcult to pull the wool over my eyes! I am very familiar with mint set toning and these mint sets in general, I just wasn't up to speed on the current going prices.......

A couple of home runs, especially a 66fbl, or a Wahington 55-d in 66, would be very sweet.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.image
