Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
you know what, that is a scary coin. why? no, not just because it's AT, which it is very likely is, due to the irregular border of the color.
no, I find that coin scary because the color progression and blending look pretty darned good.
I'll wager that if that was in a pcgs holder, we'd all be speculating about it laying under a crease in the bag or something.
If i owned any super natural looking monster bag toned morgans, I'd be selling those suckers before the character who did this coin, or some other doc, gets the process down pat.
but of course, I don't pay huge premiums for color, nor for one point ga ga grades, so all I have to worry about is someone's ability to counterfeit fine and very fine draped bust coins, and so far, none of the ground down gallery mint 1796 quarters out there have fooled me
I recall seeing very similar pieces recently on E-bay from a single seller with a rating of ZERO! Yet, these pieces have cycled around before. So, whoever is offering them clearly has changed his ID. I wonder why?
Baley, I am going to have to disagree with you. I don't think it is all that good a job. Natural, bag toned Morgans just do not have those colors. I will agree that he is improving his technique, but he is nowhere near fooling those of us who are experienced with bag toned Morgans.
...line baking tray with aluminum foil.............pre-heat oven for 30 minutes...........insert coin half way into a fresh idaho potato..........now bake in oven for 1 an 1/12 hours, drink a few beers while waiting......remove when colors appear or become to bright............let cool for 40 minutes.........place in cheap 2x2 flip..............list on ebay........ be sure and change your ebay id several times...........find a sucker........ claim your grandfather left it to you...............stay tuned for more exciting dishes, from your, friendly ,two face, lying sob, coin doctor
