The Rare & elusive PCGS 2

Dog97Dog97 Posts: 7,874 ✭✭✭
One of the toughest in the PCGS Sample series. I've only seen 2 in the last several years. Conder101 owns the other one. I paid a record breaking $11.06 and outbid 4 other bidders who clearly had no idea what they were bidding on. image

The outline of the holder around the coin looks irregular. Is that how it was made? Or is it a sample slab because of the defective holder?

It has a deformed insert. That's not normal.
Maybe I should send it back in to be reholdered? image

Oh yeah!, makes me remember the good ol' days, when you could get this babies for free.
I have about 5 in my collection, but only one from that PCGS generation holder.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Can anyone tell me about these? They don't say "sample" on them. (Except for the Dime)

WOW I sure could use that 18 & 19 penny! I only have a 20 & 26. Yes indeed, those are Sample Slabs also. Conder101 calls those 5S1 so they're not real old. He says they are unusual in the fact that the rev label never was used in a production slab.

There was a thread around here where we were listing those NGC samples. It seems like a couple of own ½ of the 199999 submission.
