Do pennies tone?

OK so I'm at work and i notice that one of the pennies in the cash drawer seems to be golden colored not red, brown or dirty. It is a 1979 with no mint mark and it appears to be toned a nice even gold on the obv. and almost even toned gold on rev. It does appear to be worn on the obv. but date and text are very clear. I wish I had a scanner or a camera but I don't so I can't really show you. Maybe if i get to dads i could get a pic if any one was interested in seeing it in the future. But any way do pennies tone gold and which mint is a 79 from with no mint mark. I'm just kinda happy I noticed it was differant and picked it up for my collection. I am not rulling out A/T because I know very little about it. thanks for your input.

Thanks to all for the beautiful examples of toned Lincoln Cents.
Copper is a highly reactive metal, and will tone
if you even look at it funny.
