Flame War?! Instead, How About "Cool Coin Night"?

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,202 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've seen some awesome coin pictures posted here lately. How about we have a "Cool Coin Night" where (almost) anything goes! Only rule is it can't be something found in every coin shop in America. The more unusual, the 'cooler'.

Here's my submission for the Thread:

Here is technically the finest IHC in existence. A MS 68R sold for 69K at the FUN show. This is technically finer, a 68R CAMEO (Proof). Won't find this in every coin store!

  • Sorry, no pictures to post. Well, none that can be posted here.

I'm all for the "will they slab anything?" thread.

I started a new collection today. Being the 20th anniversary of Hooters, I am now collecting menus. The one I got today has a 20th anniversary sticker on it. Let's all support this fine family establishment by helping to make their menus collector items. Hey, the comic book folks might go for it.image I suggest we all jump on this before they catch on.

Big Mercs are hard to find.

Actually this is a button that a Forum member found in England and then sent it to me. For the life of me I cannot remember for sure who it was. I'm really embarrased about not writing his name down to keep with this.

That is the best 1942 P Proof I could find in two years of looking. That picture was from before I sent it in. It now resides in a PCGS holder at PR64. I think I was ripped on the grade.

  • I guess you could call this my signature piece since it is where my user name came from, a true Rotated Rainbow!!

Here's my prettiest piece. Of course my local dealer said he gets these all the time. So, I ordered a dozen. He hasn't delivered one yet.

  • and I don't have a clue what the NIC control # stands for.

Cameron, NIC stands for Numismatic Inventory Control. It's a bit redundant to put NIC Control # on the slab (should say NIC #). But then again, all slabs are really stupid.

Idhair: Sell me that 1857 - great coin - how much??

Boiler - that coin is backwards - did that take a special request?? Or is it a double reverse mule??

Lakesammman- The reverse on the 1510 is my favorite side of the coin so I requested that PCGS "reverse holder" the coin. I have a 1601 that is another Morgan half dollar pattern and the two coins make an interesting presentation when they are displayed side by side.image
