<< <i>Dear Coin Doctor, >>
<< <i>I tried last month's recommendation in your article titled "Bringing the Color Out at Home," but something seems to have gone terribly wrong. It appears that my MS-62, shot-64 three-legger is now welded to my mother's night table lamp. I followed your instructions to the letter, making sure I applied only a light coating of hepatitus virus, but it all exploded when I turned on the switch. Now the lamp and my nickel are one, and mom is complaining that it's so dim in the room that she can't even see the boils on her knees. What should I do? Please help me. >>
<< <i>Dear Burned and Blinded, >>
<< <i>Sorry 'bout that. Unfortunately, from your description, I'd say the three-legger is a goner. You might trying soaking the lamp-socket in Genoan olive oil for 7 weeks, then gently pry the coin from the socket with a pair of pliers. If your Buff isn't too badly fried, it may be a candidate for re-engraving. (See pg. 1377 of our book on that subject). Meanwhile, better luck next time. Oh yeah, we suggest you get the old broad a new lamp. >>

<< <i>4) Coat a coin with corn oil, and bake inside a foil wrapped baked potato. A purplish-blue, or orange color will result. >>
Hey Frank, I know what we did wrong, we forgot the coin oil and the tin foil!!! No one told us we shouldn't just stick the coin in the potato!!!
I think this particular page of that site (which as I've already pointed out is a massive site, with tons of good information) could be controversial to anyone with a short-sighted mindset. In the computer industry, we constantly hack our own systems in an effort to make them better. We get the information, and learn the latest tactics, from hackers themselves (and most of the really valuable information comes from hacker's websites). Almost all of the "network sniffers" in use today are programs originally designed by hackers to seek out weakness and vulnerability. Though their intentions were nefarious, their work has ultimately been more beneficial than harmful.
The network administrator who thinks his network is impervious to attack and the collector who thinks AT can and will always be detectable have something in common:
They are the very definition of naiive, and they are merely waiting on the inevitable fall.
I'm glad this was posted. It is extremely useful.
