I'd say welcome. I'd also add that this would probably be a good forum to judge collector interest from, and to cultivate relationships with people who occasionally spend a little money on coins.

This is a great place for dealers to learn more about collectors - their attitudes, viewpoint, tastes, likes and dislikes. We have received some very valuable feedback here, on a number of topics.

It is also a numismatic news source of sorts. Heck, it's a sports site, too, with the jabbing, slamming, fighting and tumbling.

Lastly, and equally importantly, it's a place where you can share your love for coins and make some friends. And, it's all free!

I have spent a great deal of money with long time dealers active on this Forum. While the reason

these fine people are on the Forum is to share information, I was so impressed with their sincerity

knowledge and integrety, I was comfortable calling them up and purchasing coins from them. In every

instance, these dealers have provided the quality, service, price and care that collectors hope for

but dont usually receive. Dealers willing to invest of their time and understanding of the coin market,

and agreeable in discussing contraversial issues with Forum Members, will gain contacts with serious

collectors that no amounty of advertising can accomplish. A dealers stature is often measured by

how much they contribute back into the coin collecting community and profession.

09svdb - be careful not to confuse yourself on the Albenese Rare Coins that recently listed. There is the guy who started PCGS and NGC and then there is a dealer with the same last name. The one who recently joined I presume. Big difference!!!!

David and Dean Albanese are related to John. Albanese Rare Coins is Dave and Dean's business. They have a lot of high grade type and their market is the coin -- not slab -- collector. I always stop by their table at Long Beach and have bought from them once.

Sorry, Elcontador, Dave and Dean Albanese (Albanese Rare Coins, who joined this forum very recently) are NOT related to John Albanese. They transact business with each other but they are not related.

In addition to all the dealers that have joined or are just watching, there are also people from at least two grading services who monitor this board. Anyone who is not at least keeping an eye on these boards is missing out on a great oppurtunity to learn or keep informed to the latest trends.

I know that people from at least 3 of the other grading services read this forum. I also know that some of them read the NGC forum.

I know that at least someone from PCI monitors these forums because I got a "...Then why do you use our services..." type email, out of the blue, from one of them!

Yes, very much. And our opinions of them are to some degree shaped by statements and
beliefs of all the members regardless of the venue. We must reap what we sow.

I think it is great to have all of these "big time dealers" on the forum. My question is....how do I find one who can actually fill a want list? There seems to be so little inventory of higher graded coins (at least in the series I collect)....that I can never find the coins I want when I have the $$$. Then when one does come available.....they want $$$$$. Funny how that works.

Well said, Bear. This venue can do a great deal for a dealer's reputation. I am glad to see more dealers joining who are willing to share information and, like you said, are agreeable in discussing issues. We have some really good ones already! (Won't name names to avoid the chance of inadvertently leaving someone out.)
