Are you like me...I like PLs and DMPLs but only when they are clean.

Are you like me...I like Morgans with PL and DMPL surfaces but only when they are fairly abrasion free. It seems that the abrasions really, really show up on these coins (because of the mirrored surfaces) and if it's less than a relatively clean 64, i'm turned off by the coin.

DMPL's and PL's really show off the hits and chatter thus requiring a
very clean 64, 65 or 66 to satisfy my taste......which is why I don't have to
many of these.....
Check out my PQ selection of Morgan & Peace Dollars, and more at:
WWW.PQDOLLARS.COM or WWW.GILBERTCOINS.COM
So I guess what I'm saying is that I like PL and DMPL dollars somewhat.

now give me a nice 66 or 67 dmpl and I am a happy guy
You're really slumming on the 64's snake. Nice surfaces on DMPLs don't start happening till 65 & 66.
I got a verbal opinion from ANACS once on a couple of them, and they confirmed the coins were PL or better. He suggested dipping them as well! I think for now, I'll keep them as is. If I get a chance, I'll post images!
Thanks,

Here are some less than "65" DMPL examples which I find interesting and that I picked up over the years (the 1880-0 is headed for a regrade eventually as I think its the best I have ever seen and perhap a 65).

face is marked up. Conversely, if the face is clean then the fields look as if they held the
olympic Ice Skating finals on it. Very, very hard to find a high grade with both deep clean field
and a flawless face. Maybe I can find a coin doctor to inject Botox into the nicks and scrapes
to relax the lines a bid.

But that 68 dmpl 80-s.. . *shudder* It has some periphery toning, but I'll take it anyways.

for your wonderful 1883 Morgan Dollar shown in the picture.
