Kinda Pretty, Kinda Ugly

Went to my local coin shop and picked up this PCGS PR67. I like it.

I also have a question for you guys and gals. I purchased a coin On the 14th (last Friday) and paid with paypal right away. The seller emails me today and tells me the coin will be shipped MONDAY. Do think I am right with being upset about this. That is way over a week after the coin has been paid for. Should I neg the seller? I emailed him back asking why so long but have not heard a reply yet.

  • I have never given a buyer or a seller Negative feedback. I don't think you gain much from it. I'm not slamming people who do gice Neg. FB but I just think that becomes part of the problem.

I just don't give any at all if I am disappointed and go on to the next deal.

I do believe more can be accomplished via this forum than with feed back.
  • I wouldn't neg him either Lori, unless the coin is unsatisfactory. Things happen, and it could be that he was out of town, or ill, or whatever. If you neg him, you'll likely get one back. It just isn't worth it.

Just think of it as waiting for Christmas. Let the anticipation build. It isn't worth getting upset over if it all turns out fine.

Should you be upset? YES Should you neg him? NO (You'll just receive one back in retaliation.)

On the neg - be a little patient - some of these sellers do other things on the side, or sometimes they have lots of sales that go off at the same time. Granted, ideally the item should be mailed as soon as it is paid for, but sometimes they just need a little time to sort things out image

  • I dont like to give negs. In fact with my over 5000 feedback I never have given one even when the customer doesnt pay. I just do my alerts and get my fees back. I guess I wished other sellers would be like me and ship items the next day after payment is received. That is how you keep customers. It was a $6 slabbed toned nickel so it is not the end of the world that I have to wait a few more days. Thanks for the imput. Just wondered what some of you would do.

    It looks kinda pretty

Why would you neg a seller because he didn't ship within a few hours?

I am more concerned about how the coin arrives, then when.

Not many people run to the post office the moment payment clears - I'd be patient. Many of us are selling on the side and can't get to the PO for several days. I try to time it so it doesn't occur but it depends on how fast people pay.

  • I like the "funky" toned coins too.

It was not a few hours but over a week after a paypal instant payment.

the po was closed on monday, and all the snow due to bad weather might have something to do with it, and i also think the po is slow.image
  • Life is hard for some folks, and I believe a lot of us always have the best intentions. If the deal happens, and your not ripped off, mis-led, i.e., if the person is not deceptive, cut them some slack. I never neg anybody.

Your picts don't show for me Lori.
I'll agree a week is kinda long but just think how long it would have taken the guy to ship your coin if you hadn't paid instantly.
I'd allow the guy a couple of days to get around to checking his email for the PP notice then a couple of days to get around to packing the coin than a couple of more days to get around to making it to the Post Office.
If the email went to a real business he might not have been at work to check his email till Monday then he might be one of those once a week shippers so he put it in the cycle to go out the next Monday.
As long as he mails it when he promised I might go as far as to give a good feedback saying "slow shipping but nice coin." I wouldn't neg or neutral him unless it goes really bad.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
