You could get big bucks for that as a rare slab error selling it on eBay!image

Actually, to be accurate- nothing is wrong with the coin, PCGS simply got lazy and the "finalizer" got caught sleeping at the wheel.

I dunno. Looks like Columbus landing & bringing the Olympics to the US if you ask me.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Its the first year of the Olympic Trans Atlantic Race. Some guy by the name of Columbus won by a nose. Ceratinly worthy of a modern Commemorative.

Here's the Commemorative for the classic WWII battle of the US Congress. Certainly a battle to never forget.image

  • There's really no excuse for that. A company gets paid very well to provide an accurate description. There is no room for error.
    I have icon envy.
  • Saw one this weekend at the Pelham show (A slab error, and a good one like yours). Don't remember what it was, but it was in an NGC slab. Maybe Frank saw it too? (Frank, did I ask you about it?)

it was obviously puttied before getting slabed. now that the putty has evaporated, the coin looks totally different!

When that happens, I wonder if that isn't one of two mistakes (i.e. switched labels by the guys who seal the slabs).

  • Steve, could be but PCGS is supposed to have a final grader check them after they are slabbed.
