FC57Coins- You're the BEST! Thanks Frank. (Photos)

The best Collectors are right here, no doubt, on these Forums!
Frank was kind enough to sell me two needed toned American Silver Eagles for my PCGS "Peacock Eagles" Registry. They arrived today because Frank overnighted, at his expense, the package! Super cool on his part.
Here's some neat photos too of these two beauties!

Bear- I certainly hope "smoaking" is simply a spelling error on your part. . .

"France said this week they need more evidence to convince them Saddam is a threat. Yeah, last time France asked for more evidence it came rollin thru Paris with a German Flag on it." -Dave Letterman
Under what conditions would a one year old coin develop so much color?
I am NOT accusing anyone of anything....I am just surprised at the degree of change in such a short time. I saw one similar to that 2002 at a local shop...it really stuck out because it was just sitting in with a big stack of bright white 2002s...I asked the dealer, and he just sort of shrugged, said he left it sitting out or something. Is it simply because of the high purity of the silver that it readily oxidizes? Why don't all 2002 ASEs look like this?
And I'm not making any accusations either. My main collection is Gem OBW rolls of Lincoln cents, which I have built and upgraded over 30 years. I am careful with how they are stored, and am fanatical about humidity control with the coppers (especially the pre 1940 rolls). I do wonder though if I am foolish to carefully store my silver coins. If simply leaving them out causes this type of toning, why bother with humidity and temperature control?

You're correct in your proper way of storing your copper collection. To do otherwise would be foolish.

Leave one of these ASEs in a velvet gift box sold in local coin shops for 6 months and you will get nice color.
The other option is to leave it in one of these gift boxes on the dash board in July here in Las Vegas for a few hours and the results would be pretty much the same.
ASEs color rapidly with heat and proper surrounding material.
The coppers are a big concern to me. I've put too many years and too much money into them to let anything happen. I make the trip to the vault once a month to swap out about $50 worth of silica. But it pays off. I opened a roll of 32-P the other night and they were absolute blazers! I've had that roll for 15-20 years, and the end coins look just as they did the day I bought them. I'm convinced the finest known, and possibly 3-4 finest known 39-Ps are in a roll I've had for 2 years now. They'll be headed off to PCGS sometime later this year.
Anyway....should I be this careful with the silver? Or is a more casual approach beneficial to toning?

I was at a local coin shop here in Louisville and I saw these two raw ASE's. I studied them, and keeping in mind what I had learned about toned Morgans, my first impression was - nah - at least the first one had to be AT - the second one had possibilities, but it too was a little too "good to be true". Then I thought about it a little bit longer and realized that we were talking pure silver here. I had seen ASE's with weird toning and decided to take a chance on them and send them in the next time I had a few coins to send to PCGS. Well - the results came back, and to their satisfaction. I can't vouch for how the coins got toned that way, all I can tell you is that the dealer was going to dip them and sell them as white coins, so I felt compelled to save them - I guess Braddick is glad I did!

I want to be clear that I wasn't implying anything, and especially about the seller! But my question is honest. By "properly" storing my silver coins, am I denying myself some of the premiums toned coins bring? I've seen literally hundreds of SAEs in color similar to these, but not one in my collection even comes close (and we're talking about 500+ SAEs!). Am I taking "too good" care with my silver? (Outside of the Lincolns, my other collections are nickels and two centers, so I don't have much experience with silver). I live in a VERY humid environment (my back yard is a 144,000 acre lake

That's what I believe!
Chris
Does that mean that because a chemical caused it that it is definitely AT!
Where can I get some die polish???
Its a joke people...relax.

I guess a point is that you really can't tell AT from NT if performed by a professional with the proper cehicals and environment.
It just doesn't matter though...enjoy the coins.
Please do! I'd be EXTREMELY interested in seeing the results, and in the details of the "packaging."
Sounds like a Mint bag and some Kleenex?
