anyone seen the new "Coin World" holder system up close and personal?

I've decided its time to house my "kids" in something better than 2x2 mylars....... I've seen a whole ****load (thats "boat" if your the sensitive type), and I was almost ready to go with the Intercept Shield type, but the new Coin World system looks really cool..... storage boxes and all......... Ive probably got around 1500 to 2000 pieces to reholder, so this isnt something I'm gonna wanna switch on a whim...... Anyone have any experience with either one of these either positive or negative????

  • Hello! (Welcome to the boards, we haven't been introduced yet - got any Silver JFKs?)

I have a couple of them (some IHCs graded and encapsulated by our own Puskin - "PGS"). I love them. They're nice, compact, easy with which to deal, and seem to be quite secure.

Their just a fancy little ANACS sized holder that you can snap together like airtights. They are more of a Coin World promotional deal than anything else. They are neat & cute though.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I've got some of those holders right next to me. They are cool, I like them. And it's a lot cheaper than certification if you're just wanting a slicker presentation. Downside is that it can be hard to get the coin in there. The potential for touching the coin or rubbing it slightly is certainly there. It takes some skill to avoid it. And I didn't avoid it all the time. image
  • Im not too worried about handling, as I have mint sets back to 47 in their original holders, and the early proof sets are in Capitals..... but I think this might be easier for me as my fingers seem slightly less nimble now than they did 20 years ago...... Is the quality of the holder such that you can use a glass and get an undistorted view THRU the holder? or must the coin be removed for better viewing.... Im not talking about hairlines here, more like die varieties.....

  • I use them for alot of my raw coins they give me the piece of mind especially when showing off a coin to someone. The only drawback I found was that they only fit in an ANACS?? or their own Coin World storage box. They dont fit in a PCGS storage box. So you will need to order the storage box as well. Overall I think they are great. TextTextText

I have a sample I picked up at a show. Send me a PM with your address if you want it, and I'll mail it to you.

To turn on PMs, click "profile" at the top right of the page, then near the bottom of the profile page set "Allow Private Messages" to ON.
