Guess What This is About-- Win Prize

My wife just e-mailed me the first verse of a poem and asked "what do you think it refers to?"

There's a danger you know,
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger

So what do you guys think it refers to? First one to guess doesn't have to read my posts anymore.

Clankeye

Edited to add: This is not a serious thread, and if it should perchance keep some of the serious, nasty, flame-throwing real numismatic threads off the first page... my sincere apologies.

One [deleted] is no trouble, and two are so funny,
the third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey,
the fifth is delightful and the sixth one's a breeze,
you'll find you can live with a houseful with ease.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Ah, well I really did think you were the legitimate winner with your guess of "dogs or cats..."

The answer is it is a poem about cats. Which I have four of. BUT... certainly when I read the first verse (sent to me by the wife) I thought she had stumbled upon something about coin collecting.
Cats and Coins. The bane of my existence. I certainly think that verse could apply to many, many things, though.

ccrdragon, Congratulations! You are excused from reading my posts in the future.

I think she's referring to your Carver collection. image But I think it could also be musical instruments! I remember my music teacher once saying that musicians are a weird lot. They mortgage their instruments and are lucky to live in a hovel!

  • Hey Wissy! Welcome to the forum. I am honored that your first post would be to this thread and that it would be "cat." I look forwarded to getting to know you better. Jump in.

I live in a hovel with my Carvers. I would like to sing to them, but I mortgaged all my intruments. Your music teacher sounds like a weirdo.

You should see Clanks toned Booker's. I wonder if he'll start on the Phillipines, they
    are alot tougher toned.
