A Coin Doctor Gone Good!!!!

This thread was on the board yesterday! I'm sure many of us emailed him and told him about his crap! I would just like to clear his name because he did email me back and changed his auctions! Here is his response:

I have added to all my item descriptions that the coins may have been
artificially toned. How can you tell if the tone is natural or induced?
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Dan(p.s. the coins were bought at a local bid board)

Here is the thread that started this! Check his auctions he did the right thing!

Excellent! If anything, this should serve as an example of what happens when a seller is not aware of what he is selling, if you point out to him the problem, and he is honest, he will usually thank you for pointing it out to him.

On the other hand, the ones who know what they are doing, will usually fight tooth and nail, conceive all sorts of whoppers, and generally do what we saw aswimmer do.
  • Thanks for bringing this to the top it's great to hear of an honest e-bayer.

    you did tell him right?
  • K6AZ,

I think you hit the nail on the head. Within an e-mail or two you can generally figure out if a guy just doesn't have a clue what he's selling (stupidity is not a crime) or if it's his intention to deceive for his personal gain = fraud, which is a crime.

If it's the former and he's willing to try inform his bidders properly, he should be congratulated. If it's the latter and he says, "up yours", he deserves a forum bar-b-que. MHO.

Gee Bryan, we ought to take turns posting, because that is exactly what I think. Hey, forum BBQ, that's good! Uh, what kind of toning do you think I could get by putting a little BBQ sauce on a Morgan and sticking it on that hotplate at 500c? image
  • And to be precise, here's what this very fellow said in an e-mail to me:

<<Hello, I have purchased them at a local bid board.I have added to all my item descriptions that the coins may have been artificially toned.I am not sure how to tell but some other people have told me they suspect that.Any
other ?'s please write. Thanks Dan>>

Contrast that to the responses of he who would do the breast stroke.
