Just back from PCGS (after 48 days) a double die reverse 1946 walking liberty half dollar. I bought this coin at a show in a old PCGS rattler holder graded ms63. I didn't realize what I had until 3 days later. I was thrilled to see it listed in the PCGS coin number look up. I cracked it out and resubmitted it to PCGS raw. This is a very low pop coin. Only 13 graded ms60 or better!! The Population is 7 in ms64 with only 4 graded higher. The doubling is very strong and can easily be seen with the naked eye. I am not good enough at coin photography to capture the doubling. If you have any questions or interest PM me.

Great! It has to be nice to pay ms-63 money then upgraded to a MS-64 with the DDR designation!

How much would one of those go for? Have there been any recent sales of the 1946 DDR?

I'm taking a flat-out WAG on the value, but I'd guess it's north of $2k for that coin.

A 1946 WLH DDR graded MS66 not 65 sold in a recent Kingswood auction for $5,700. The pictured coin is attractive and it truly is a great find. ANACs has graded more of these than PCGS, but I still have trouble putting a value on this coin. The same can be said for a high end circulated or even UNC 1918-d without initials. Watch out if WLH die varieties ever catch on...

Awesome find, congratulations! You've got to be feeling pretty good about it. Was it labeled as a DDR in it's former holder?

It was in an unmarked 1st generation PCGS holder. It upgraded 1 point from a 63 to a 64.

This picture shows some of the doubling. Look at the wing tips and back leg area.
