Hidden Slab Numbers on E-bay Coins for sale

Any insights as to why this is done ?

My guess it has something to do with your coin image being copied.

Many thanks.

have to see example...I sometimes scan only the coin not the whole slab in order to enlarge the coin and have faster downloading time....

  • I think sellers hide the numbers on the slabbed coins so that the can not be entered into registry sets.
  • There may be two reasons:
    - so people do not use them in their Registry sets (If I sell it to you on eBay and, in the process, someone uses them in their set, it will inconvenience the real winner when they receive the coin)
    - if folks have multiple coins of the same type, mm/date and grade and want to relist (save time typing and taking piuctures)

I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!

I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!

If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??
  • I agree with most it's to keep people from stealing the #'s and adding them to their reg. sets.

I once saw an e-bay auction of a MS-69 ACG morgan dollar with the # whited outimage
