Ebay is messed up

i was bidding on a 1950-d rainbow Jefferson and the timer was completely screwed. it said 59 secs remain so i immediately refreshed and went to place the bid but i noticed it said 1 hour remaining. somehow the auction ended already.

sellers are losing money right now.

(i've been watching this damn thing for a week too! didn't notice til 5 mins left that it was Braddick's)

You're not the only one. There's a thread around here about it somewhere. Several of us experienced exactly the same thing yesterday.

I was refreshing the timer screen yesterday during a snipe set up and noticed after a refresh that the timer had added one day too...the next refresh showed it correctly but I almost missed the bid...I was lucky, I harpooned the item with 3 seconds remainingimage

actually it said 59 secs, then refreshed and it said 1 hour left, so i placed bid after about 15 secs. said it couldn't proceed because the auction had already ended. i knew it was BS and went back to the auction where it said 10 secs remained so i threw the bid in again but still gave me the "ended" error.

damn, oh well maybe it was good karma i was gonna overpay anyway.

  • Ah, the perils of cherrypicking/sniping ... the more I do the eBay thing, the more I start to believe that you should bid the most you can when you first see it and then just walk away.
Having said all that, I still get excited with the five ... four ... three ... two ... BID !!!

P.S. I screwed up twice this past weekend myself

sometimes i'll do that, but this was definitely an "impulse" type coin. the high bidder was already paying over PCGS guide for it, and i was going to bid well over that. he might of run me up if he had a chance.

oh well, sniper rifle misfire. first time ever.
