OK - enough nonesense! An update on the Pelham, AL show

Well - the show wound up with a slow Sunday afternoon that saw more trading among dealers than with customers. It was interesting to see how different coins were pitched from dealer to dealer and what kinds of deals were to be had. Being a bystander I didn't get into the wheeling and dealing of it all, but it was fun to see what everyone else was doing. As for the show itself, I noticed that a lot of what I would call - low cost collectibles (50-75 dollars) were being picked up by collectors fairly readily. Some more serious collectors were hunting for one or two special pieces, but it seemed like the high ticket items were being exchanged by dealers. All in all it was a great experience - I saw a few toned dollars that I was tempted on, but passed in favor of future purchases. I can see where if someone is both a collector and dealer they would have a hard time making a profit at the end of these shows. A very worthwhile learning experience that everyone should undertake at least once!
