Question asked twice today- never answered!!

I know NOTHING about toning! But I asked 2 times today in different threads about toning and nobody would give an answer. This might offend some, but so be it. If you have a coin in a certian type of holder or stored a certian way for 20 years and it tones, what is the difference to a coin that is toned in, say 20 minutes by someone who knows how to do it? I have heard people say that AT covers up flaws that will make a coin be worth more money or will grade higher. I CAN see the reasoning behind that explanation. But can't a coin that has toned over 20 years do the same thing.
I would like to see some answers, if anyone has the time to do so. I may respond back with more questions as some things get answers, as the answers may generate more questions. Thanks in advance, Ken

By the way, the short answer to your question about toning over 20 years vs toning over 20 minutes is that they do not have the same characteristics. The difference is in the chemistry, physics and optics.
