We are finite beings, limited in all our powers, and, hence, our conclusions are not only relative, but they should ever be held subject to correction. Positive assurance is unattainable. The dogmatist is the only one who claims to possess absolute certainty.
I seen the word " HOARD " on that slab. If I remember correctly wasn't there a thread around last month about how that word was made up by eBay coin sellers trying to dump coins on the market? And I have never seen a auction by NGC on eBay... Sorry I had to reply to this one
I believe the new service was first announced at FUN in Orlando. I saw a couple of example coins, but they wouldn't let anyone handle them. They said that it'd be about a month before the first ones hit the market so it looks like they're right on schedule.
As for how it affects the market, that remains to be seen. I'm just happy to believe that fewer of my 'buddies' will be cracked out.
ngc started doing this at the fun show in jan 2003
they do not guarantee the grade of the coin in the gsa slab with the ngc seal around the gsa holder as the seal around the gsa holders is not as secure as the white sonically sealed holders!
whereas the more secure ngc white sonically sealed holders with the coins examined raw they have certain guarantees
I agree with GSAGUY the NGC grading of the coin will eliminate the cracking out and preserve the history. While more genuine that the "Binion hoard" it is still a pedigree. I have changed my mind after seeing the graded GSA's on EBAY I will buy the ungraded GSA, while NGC did a nice job it just takes something away with that "piece of tape" across the slab.
