Did i do anygood or did I pick a loser?? 1885 O morgan

OOPs the cat jumped on the key board before I could get anything posted. lol


Any how today I picked this up from a dealer I buy and sell to. He knows I love toned coins so he saved it for me. Any how tell me what you think of it. It has not been cleaned (there no hair lines and no swirls). We both think it is tissue toning or a real nice of folder toning.


But either way I think it grades MS64ish. Tell me if you think its AT and what it grades. Now I havent asked an opnion for a while so be gentle with me. And besides the poor morgan looked so lonely.

    I agree with you that it is in the ms64 range. My gut reaction says it`s real tone and not AT. So I`ll go with real.

    I'm not real good with judging AT coins, but the obverse looks just a little bit off with the vibrant purples....reverse looks pretty natural. I think your right on with the grade at 63/64.

    The toning looks good and I say a real nice 63, maybe a shot at 64.

    Byron, if you got that coin for under $50 you made out. I am 99% convinced it is natural toning. Very nice looking coin.

    I'm going to say the toning is real. I agree with the 64 range. A really nice, eye appealing coin.

    Byron - I agree with the 64ish grade, but I'm not sure about the toning. Looks a bit "heavy" for natural toning but then again, who can really say on this one. Some of these Morgans are obviously AT'd, some are obviously natural, and some are "in between" - wish I could say for sure one way or the other.

    I have a similiar rose purplish Morg in a NGC slab.
    Looks like a problem free coin, 63/64.
    Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
