Which coins would you send to PCGS and which to NGC

When you want to send coins in for grading does it matter which of these two services you use?
I mean do you have to think about a particular coin type will grade more accurately at one versus the other?

See, real competition always works out for the consumer. I would send Buffalo nickels and Franklins to NGC with no qualms. I wouldn't send them any moderns (clad era) coinage. They are too liberal. mdwoods

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
<< <i>Don't forget... NGC now guarantees copper >>
That warranty extends out ten years only though.
At least it's a start.
(Personally I don't think anyone can really guarantee copper as it'll change- over time, almost no matter what you do.)

I like the PCGS holder better because it seems harder for me to get good pictures of some NGC coins. With the PCGS holder I can place different colored paper behind the slab. But I am working on my technique for NGC holdered coins...
The big dilemma for me is which service to choose for my nicely toned Bust half dimes and dimes; I like 'em attributed, yet I also want to be able to view and photograph them!
For what it's worth, I find the SEGS and ICG slabs to be terrible for viewing and photographing. The plastic is too thick or imparts too much opaqueness, and my pictures come out too blurry.

I too prefer small coins like half dimes and gold in PCGS holders because these tiny pieces get lost in the thick NGC white inserts. As for larger coins, it’s a toss up. I think that large gold coins and toned silver coins look better in NGC holders.
