Idea for PCGS Grading Special- Forum Members

I was wondering whether PCGS would give a special slabbing deal to forum members. I mean, heck, this is sort of a club and the members here spend real dollars on coins and grading fees. How about a 10 coin for $10 each graded in 10 days like ANACS does? PCGS could give you a 10-10-10 coupon good, say, to year end for $100 and you could order it through a link on the Forum. PCGS would win as everybody would be posting their slabbing stories and we'd feel like appreciated coin partners with the grading house instead of like tired old neglected warhorses.

Hmmm ... all forum members hang onto their coins and then unify to demand the dealers' bulk submission rates to send them in. Numismatic disobedience? image
  • Don't you think it would be good for PCGS? ANACS gives this sort of deal all the time. If PCGS did, you'd unify the more vocal collectors here behind them. My idea is not so much because I have a submission group in the fire, it's just that PCGS seems not to reach out to the enthusiastic collectors like NGC/ANACS do.

I think you better get used to that "tired old neglected warhorse" type of feeling. Don't hold your breath either. image

  • Yea, I won't hold my breath either. I am sure that it would create a lot of good will though.

I kind of asked that question on the Q&A board. But mine was more for volume discounts. With ANACS if you are a good customer and send in submissions of 25 coins at a time you get a discount on your submission. the ansver I got from HRH was:

<< <i>MadMarty...We do give volume discounts. We have a bulk service that you can use if you send 500 or more of the same coin. There is a discount depending on the amount of coins. Submissions of 25 or 50 or 100 coins are not considered large submissions.

We are swamped with business, and like all goods and services, our prices respond to the supply/demand facters in the marketplace. Since the demand is currently high for our services, it would not be a wise business decision to lower prices by discounting 25 and 50 coin submissions. >>

Basicly, we are not important enough for a discount...

Don't you need to be a forum member to submit... Silver, Gold, or Platinum? This would mean it is open to everyone who submits!

I'm a platinum, and submit a lot of coins, and still can't catch a price break at PCGS. I think for non-registry stuff it's time to go back to ANACS.

Guys, PCGS is in business to make MONEY. They provide a service that coin collectors and dealers want and need. They happen to have the best perceived product. As David Hall says, they are swamped with business right now. If they sell their services for less money, that would not be a good business decision. Comparison with what ANACS charges is not the same. If enough people switch to NGC or someone else, so that you get turnaround of 10 to 20 days instead of the current 40 to 50 days, THEN, maybe PCGS would consider some special offer. JMHO. Steve
