  • Well,
I wanted to vote for the Marlin (one of my "other passions"), because there was no tarpin.

Then I wanted to vote for "America's Spaceport" (one of my "other passions").

I like swamps, so the Everglades was a natural (pun intended).

"The Gateway to Discovery" could have been great....without that dorky looking pirate ship from the movie "Goonies."

But...I voted for St. Augustine (I LOVE the city, and I gotta look out for my coin-bud!).

    Jeremy,

Me either. The coding appears to be screwed up.

  • The coins shown on the page that you directly linked, all looked nice. However, when I went for the cast vote thing and saw the pics of the coins, I was deeply disappointed to see the designs that would actually be depicted on the coins. The revised designs' beauty was compromised. A real disappointment.image

I agree with littlewicher, the artist rendition looks great the actual coins are a real let down. I voted for the St Augustine as I like the design.

  • I find it ironic that the BALLOT is MESSED UP!! Seriously.... take a look at the Everglades coin in the Finalists list and it's different than the one in the Voting page.

    Way to go Florida!!!!

  • image GEEZ, I've lived in Florida all my life and can't tell where the concrete and paving start and between Jax and Daytona! Is St. Augustine outside of Duval county, because even in the 70's, I couldn't tell!image
Pensacola in the panhandle will always be considered the oldest settlement in Florida, regardless of all the countries that invaded the area, or mass destruction from hurricanes!!image

Sorry, I voted for the Heron. I would have preferred a space themed coin, but the two finalist with shuttles on them are lame. Here's one that I threw together quickly that I would have preferred:

    image

It needs a lot of cleaning up, but I think it's a lot better than the two legit finalists.

  • image 47 years on the NW Gulf Coast, and I just am not happy with any of the choices. Mixing the past with the current is tough, and the last time I was in the Everglades and South Florida, I just wanted too cry!
Historically, I may move to the St. Augistine issue as that it bears fruit to the beginning of exploration and then exploitation of the state I love so dearly!
