This is a rare Lincoln medal by Thomas Elder, struck in 1916. "Showing the white feather" back then meant displaying cowardice. Apparently, British women would walk around the cafes in London and give out white feathers to the able-bodied men who had still not volunteered to serve their country, now in the Great War. This essentially shamed them into enlisting.
