Algeria was known in ancient times (most of it anyway) as Numidia.
Geography: Located in North Africa, roughly corresponding to modern Algeria and parts of Tunisia and Libya.
History: Founded in 202 BCE, it was ruled by kings like Masinissa and later integrated into the Roman Empire.
Military: Numidian cavalry were famous for their speed and agility and allied with both Carthage and Rome during the Punic Wars before eventually becoming a Roman province.
Capital: The capital city was Cirta, which is now called Constantine, Algeria.
