Fabulous 1910-S FS501 Lincoln....except not
Although I am not a passionate Lincoln cent or variety collector (not until they are chop marked) I can appreciate anything genuinely rare. I understand from an associate of mine that is a Lincoln cent nut that this is a really rare coin. I looked up the population and certainly agree. Or at least it would be if it were what is being advertised at Heritage. But sadly it is not. It is the far more common FS502. I was also told by a very reliable source that this misrepresentation was brought to the attention of Heritage but Heritage is choosing to leave the coin misrepresented, let someone purchase it and pass the buck to NGC. Hopefully collectors are taking the time to examine the coin and not just blindly accept descriptions from others. If you know anyone bidding on this coin because they think it is the FS501 maybe you can give them a heads up to examine the coin. The difference between the FS501 and FS502 is very obvious as shown here at Variety Vista as well as in the Cherrypicker Guide. Jeremy.
