When I can, I add/update my Lincoln Small Cents

hfjacintohfjacinto Posts: 880 ✭✭✭✭✭

While I don't actively look to upgrade, when I have extra cash and have some time I try and get a few updates for my Lincoln cent collection. I recently added 6 new coins and decided to update some pictures.

Thanks for looking.

    Like that 18-S woodgrain toner.

What's the reverse of the 69-S look like?

    Great job! Looks great, too!

Those books sure look good with every slot filled.

I can see the effort you put into it! 👍🏻 👍🏻

That 22 plain looks like an MS62 RD. 😉

@hfjacinto.... That is a great collection of Lincoln cents.... Really nice quality and pictures. Your 1991 has a mint mark in the slot that should have none... cannot read the MM, is it a P? Cheers, RickO

    @ricko

Since the Philadelphia Lincoln Cents are so ubiquitous, I decided to spice up the memorial album and added a few Proofs I had laying around. There are few P cents that aren't "P" cents. I doubt with mintages in the billions, they will ever be rare so if I ever get the inkling to put in a P where it belongs I can at a future time.

    :p

@OAKSTAR , I don't actually have a 22 Plain, I don't collect varieties and didn't feel it should be in the book, so I have a BU Red Wheat cent in its place.

@hfjacinto.... Thanks for the reply. I noticed that cent as I was scanning your great coins... made me curious, and the picture did not magnify. Cheers, RickO

The 69S is a proof, so it 's very shiny :) Here is a 68 S from my type set, it looks the same :)

@hfjacinto... Thank you.... It is an S, I thought so, but could not be sure. Actually, I thought it was an S just due to the Proof appearance. I appreciate the second image. Cheers, RickO

Question: What is better storage for Lincoln copper? Albums (as shown) or 2x2 (stapled) folds?

What's better is a stable/low humidity environment. If you keep your coins in a stable environment, most won't change for the time you own them. I have Lincoln's in a Whitman folder that look like they did 40 years ago.

Yes, I assumed as much. I've done the same kind of thing, filling holes of those key dates.

The thing for me, is that I will work to get the key dates (even for my Whitman folder), but never felt a need to get any of the varieties (unless they were cheap). I don't have for example the 42/1 Mercury dimes or the 3 legged Bison Nickel. But I do have a 16-d mercury dime and an 1877 IHC. But I understand, I don't like having holes either.

I like that you added proofs in some spots. My only gripe with the albums made by Dansco et al is the lack of spots for proofs going back to 1950. I realize your album was designed for just business strikes, I still really like what you have done with it.

I completely understand. You're singing my song. I have the S-VDB, 42/1 and 3 legged buffalo in the old ANACS soap bar slabs. I need your 16-D! 😂 😉
