Numbered COA or Counterstamped Serial Number?

The US Mint is issuing more coins with Numbered COAs - Certificates of Authenticity.
Other issuers have stamped the serial numbers right on the piece, either on the edge or face.

nah, just the COA

I have some silver bars and rounds with numbers like 221 of 1000 on the edge. If there is a limited, numbered mintage, I think the edge would be best since a coa can be lost or switched
Sorry ment to vote for edge

I prefer the COA... but second choice would be the number on the edge. Cheers, RickO
COA only

How about a 4th option: "who cares?".
The limited mintage is already known and we know that the # on the cert/coin does not (for US coins, anyway) tell the order of mintage.
In the world of art I’ve seen it numbered visibly on the front or on the back where it can’t easily be seen. With coins, I could see it being on the coin obverse or reverse if the coin is large enough or on the edge. A COA is easily lost or associated with a different coin so why not on the coin itself?
That said, I prefer no numbering on coin or COA.
